My grown up little boy

Two weeks ago, against my better judgement, I decided it was time that Miles transition to a toddler bed. So, I got out the impact driver (most awesome tool ever) and removed the front side (drop down death trap) from his crib. As I was making a ruckus, Miles climbed the stairs to his room to see what was up. I had purchased a crib size bed rail months ago. I was getting all the parts out of the packaging to be able to put it together, when he came into the room. Miles was so excited to be able to climb into his bed all by himself. He had the big goofy grin and he sat with Baa Baa on the bed. He insisted in helping me put together the bed rail and make sure that I had every part just when I needed it.

Nap time was the first time he would use the new bed. My big concern was would he actually stay in his bed. Madster moved right from her crib to her big twin bed. So she couldn't really climb out herself and wouldn't get up out of it by herself until she was 3. Miles was great. He stayed in bed for his nap and at night. In fact, most mornings, he'll happily sit in bed singing and playing with his animals until someone comes in to get him. Frankly, he is one of the happiest go-luckiest kids I have ever met, so I should expect nothing less. Now if only the time comes for him to be potty trained would it be this easy!

Happy Birthday Miles!

On March 15th, my sweet boy turned 2! It is hard to believe he is already two, but he also seems so grown up at times. He runs and plays. He is stringing together words for simple sentences. He knows what he likes and what he doesn't and is always willing to tell you either way. One thing that he loves is trains. That was one of the first "sentences" that Miles put together...."Choo choo, go." Needless to say, his birthday this year was definitely train-centric.

Being the crazy Mom that I am, I wanted to have a train cake for him. It went through many turns in my head before finally being based on a video I saw online. Once the cake was done, I felt like it could be a internet meme that is viral on the interwebs....

So the cake didn't quite turn out as amazing and beautiful as I pictured. In the end, that didn't really matter. What mattered was that Miles thought the cake was great and had a very Happy Birthday!

A Happy Christmas and Joyous New Year

The Doyle's had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. The kiddos and Kevin got lots of new toys. I got a beautiful pair of diamond earrings. We got to see all of our family during Christmas week and even got to have an old fashion Bajuszik New Years!

Last week as Kevin and kids were driving home, they passed his old office building. Mad mentioned that he didn't work there anymore and that she didn't know how to get to his new office. He explained that his new office was in Tipton and that we visited Santa there. Maddie remembered that and went on to explain that she asked Santa for a barbie with snowflake dress that has purple and pink on it. When Santa heard what Maddie wanted (2 weeks before Christmas), he tried his best and looked EVERYWHERE for something like that. All Santa could find was a sparkle Ariel doll, which he thought would be good enough....
So, when asked if she got what she wanted, she replied, "well, the elves couldn't make what I wanted this year. So hopefully next year they can and Ariel will have a new friend!" So, Santa has a year to figure this one out....
